On doing what you love

In this "go go go" system we are living in, it's hard to find time to do the things we love. So much so that many of us haven't even figured out what it is we love doing - our passion(s).

In not doing what we love, we are depriving ourselves a huge part of our humanity. We become robots, mechanically going the the day with little attention to what we are actually doing because the truth is, we would much rather be doing something else.

We have become machines, with machine hearts and machine minds. Programmed to be gears in a system that was created to benefit the few at the cost of many.
Remember that we not only have potential to do great things, we ARE the infinite potentiality of the universe. Our capacity to love is humanity's most valuable heirloom, inherited from the ultimate.

Some may argue that there just isn't enough time! Between the 8+ hours of work, 2+ hours of commute, and 4+ hours of Grey's Anatomy, it's a wonder there is even time for sleep. If you don't want to turn into a soulless zombie, I suggest you make time. Giving yourself time to do and practice what you love doing, needs to be up higher on the list - at least above catching up on the latest episode of whatever drama series you're into at the moment.

In figuring out life, I find it helpful to fast forward to my death bed, and think of things from that perspective. When you die, will you be glad that you watched every episode of One Life to Live (ironic), or that you have lived your life doing what you loved doing?

When we do what we love doing, we come alive. The world needs people who are alive! You can tell when someone is doing what they love. Their eyes are alight with a fire that you don't often see in the eyes of the zombies wandering about the financial district.

Make time in your life to do and practice what you love. With enough practice, you will eventually become a master of it, and when you are a master of it, you can make a living doing what you love doing. At the very least, the practice will nourish your soul, and keep you from becoming just another cog in the machine.
